Bathing and showering: There is endless hot water, but you can only run one shower/bath at the same time to keep good pressure. During the winter if possible, please use the main bathroom at the end of the corridor to shower. As the cottage is not heated during the winter the bathroom walls are cold so when you bath/shower it leads to lots of condensation on the walls. So it would be really helpful when bathing/showering and during the day, leave the window, open a little to vent and dry, the walls. Thanks.

 

Heated towel rail in the bathroom: This, as with the radiators, comes on with the central heating. Please do not turn on at the switch below the rail. This turns on an electric element in the rail and is for summer use only when the central heating is off. If the electric element is used at the same time as the central heating the rail will overheat and break its internal thermostat.

 

Wood burner: Once going one log at a time is enough. As the stove top is old and fragile please don’t overfill. Even with the door shut (main top door and little bottom door) and the wheel screwed down tight, the wood burner still ticks along slowly.

 

Neighbours: In the cottage at the back is Rob Smith. In the house down, the hill from us, are Chris and Kerry who have two children. In the house up the hill from us are Staffan and Katie.

 

Pubs: The pub in the village is called The Ship and is open for limited hours out of season. They do food and have a pool table. There is also a nice pub in Porthgain called The Sloop. In Porthgain, as well as a couple of art galleries, there is a fish and chip restaurant called The Shed where you can get takeaways.

 

Local Shops and Petrol: The nearest shop is the Spar at the petrol station at the top of the hill out of Trefin in the village of Square and Compass. The shop sells a pretty good range of stuff and has a cash machine.

 

Supermarket etc: The best place is the M&S in Haverfordwest (postcode SA61 2PY). There are several big shops there (including a big Boots) and nearby (eg a Morrisons at postcode SA61 2EX).

 

Nearest A&E: This is also in Haverfordwest (postcode SA61 2PZ).
